In Germany, where I live, prostitution has been 100% legal for many years.
However, sex work is still surrounded by plenty of stigma. And the media’s portrayal tend to focus on human trafficking, abused women and drug addiction.
“Sexarbeiterin” – a new documentary by Sobo Swobodnik – is an effort to show the other side of sex work. Lena Morgenroth is a Berlin sex worker, and the film portrays her as a perfectly ordinary woman with family and friends – a woman who just happens to have an unusual and misunderstood job.
I’ve yet to see the film myself, and all press releases so far seem to be in German, but the official website is here.
