Many of us feel saddened when a great artist dies – we feel the loss of anyone who has impacted our lives one way or the other. And when I heard the news of the death of pornographic actress Jeanna Fine, I felt a similiar kind of sadness.
Watching porn is a very personal experience. Sexual attraction is subjective, so each individual will have their own particular crushes. And Jeanna was definitely one of mine. With her slender figure and frequently short haircuts, there was something enticingly androgynous about her appearance.

And her performances were truly remarkable. Only a handful of adult performers could display a sexuality as animalistic as Ms. Fine. She would not only express lust – it would seem to have completely overtaken her, often reducing her to helpless tears approaching her climax.
During her heyday in the “golden age of porn”, she deservedly worked with many of my favourite classic directors: Michael Ninn, Paul Thomas, Antonio Passolini. And through her sex advice column in Hustler magazine, I also got to know her as a smart woman with thoughtful opinions on human sexuality.
Jeanna Fine will be missed, but not forgotten.
